Mehmet also serves on the board of YEO Energy and Technology Group and as a senior advisor to BGN International, Italian Safe and Karpowership. He is the chairman of the advisory board of the Middle East Institute in Washington, D.C. He contributes to German Konrad Adenauer Foundation on Mediterranean matters.

Mehmet’s distinguished career includes executive and advisory roles at the highest levels, including serving as an advisor to Turkish Prime Minister Turgut Özal, where he contributed to regional security, economic policy, and energy diplomacy. He held key positions in the Turkish Diplomatic Service in Beijing, Brussels, and Paris, and was the Principal Administrator for the Asia-Pacific and Latin America Division at the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris, where he focused on energy security, green energy development, and strategic infrastructure resilience.

He later led international investment and outreach at the OECD Secretariat, before joining British Gas (BG Group, now Shell) as Managing Director in charge of government relations and business development. Mehmet’s leadership at Invensys plc as Chairman of the International Advisory Board expanded the company’s footprint in key markets including China, India, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey.

Mehmet has also served as an independent board director for publicly listed companies such as Yaşar Holding, Genel Energy plc, and Şişecam Holding Group, advising on strategy, risk management, audit, and corporate governance. As Chief Strategist for the Asian Development Bank, he played a pivotal role in shaping the 2030 energy and infrastructure vision for Asia.
